In Berisso, in the province of Buenos Aires (Argentina), more than eight thousand volunteer barbers will gather next Saturday for a major solidarity day. The event, which starts at 1:00 PM at the city's Municipal Gymnasium, is organized by the Argentine Foundation of Solidarity Barbers and aims to offer free haircuts, as well as sports and recreational activities, especially during the winter break period.

For those working in barbershops, the initiative highlights how the trade can transcend aesthetics and act as a tool for social inclusion. The organization, which has been active in the country for over two decades, has already performed around 60,000 free haircuts for children from feeding centers, homeless people, elderly individuals, and persons with disabilities.

The foundation's president, Juan Pablo Martorelli, emphasized that the main goal is to reach where the need is greatest. "Here we don't charge a single peso to anyone," he stated. The event counts on the collaboration of the Berisso municipality and the Sports department of the Buenos Aires province, which will provide part of the recreational infrastructure, including inflatable games, face painting, and gymnastics for girls.

In addition to haircuts, the proposal includes artistic makeup, sports activities, and a shared snack, all with free access. Martorelli explained that many families today cannot afford basic expenses, such as a haircut or a recreational outing, making this day essential to offer children a different experience.

The foundation also maintains an active headquarters in La Plata, where it permanently serves the elderly, people with disabilities, and children on the autism spectrum. In addition to free service, the organization provides food to those living in vulnerable situations and focuses on training new barbers, transmitting not only techniques but a strong community commitment.

According to the president, the economic crisis has increased demand for these services, as more and more families struggle to pay for basic care. He highlighted that the coordinated work between social organizations, volunteers, and public agencies allows the reach of solidarity to be multiplied, proving that a simple haircut can change a person's self-esteem and life prospects.
