International barbering competition brings professionals together in Vilagarcía de Arousa

Vilagarcía de Arousa, Spain, hosted the first edition of the Batalla Trending competition, an event that gathered approximately fifty professionals at the Fexdega fairgrounds. The initiative aims to highlight the best talents in the industry, attracting participants not only from various parts of Galicia and Spain but also from an international scope.

The competitors were divided into three specific categories: Joven Leyendas (Young Legends), Corte y Barba (Cut & Beard), and Total Look, the latter contested by pairs. During the event, barbers had to demonstrate a high level of technical skill and creativity in executing their work, competing in a battle that valued the artistic ability of each participant.

The project is driven by Miguel Barber and Flaco Barber, with the goal of creating a permanent space in Vilagarcía where professionals can showcase their skills. Additionally, the organization intends to bring the craft closer to local citizens and serve as a showcase for new trends in the barbering market.

Due to the high participation of professionals, the public, and partner brands, the event exceeded the expectations of a simple competition. The activity served as a meeting point between veterans with long careers in the trade and young talents, while also involving companies and the general community in a collective experience.

To complement the afternoon atmosphere, there were live musical performances by Rapper GZ, Jesús Cañas, and Yamil. The award ceremony was attended by Mayor Alberto Varela, as the Concello (City Council) collaborated in organizing this new initiative in the city.

The jury highlighted the work of three professionals in each of the contested categories. With the success of the first edition, the organization hopes that the competition can be repeated on other occasions at the same venue.
