Saudi Arabia has implemented new rigorous guidelines focused on health and hygiene in men's barbershops. The measure, announced by the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, seeks to protect clients from sanitary risks by requiring professionals to maintain high standards of personal cleanliness before and during service delivery.

One of the central points of the regulation is the mandatory valid health certificate for all barbers. Additionally, the government determined that services performed outside licensed facilities, such as cuts done at a client's home, require specific permission to be considered legal and regular.

Operationally, barbershops must follow strict cleaning protocols. Reusable tools need to be cleaned, disinfected, and sterilized after each service, while disposable equipment must be discarded immediately after use. Establishments are also responsible for keeping workstations clean and ensuring that all service areas meet the prescribed standards.

The main objective of these requirements is to safeguard public health and improve the overall quality of service offered to the public. For investors and owners, the new rules establish clear operational criteria, facilitating compliance with licensing requirements and strengthening the business environment in the sector.

Before applying fines or formal penalties, the ministry will prioritize educating and raising awareness among operators about their responsibilities. This approach aims to encourage voluntary adherence to the norms, allowing establishments to correct flaws and turn safety rule compliance into a daily routine.

The initiative is part of a broader national effort to regulate various service sectors, seeking to standardize the quality and safety offered to the local population and visitors.
