Former lawyer opens VIP Barbershop unit in São José (SC) after sabbatical year
Claiton Becker, who worked in Law for 12 years, invested in the barbership franchise. The new store in Barreiros offers varied services and a focus on customer experience.
In São José (SC), lawyer Claiton Becker ended a 12-year career in the legal field to start a business in men's beauty. After a sabbatical year, he decided to invest in a unit of VIP Barbershop, a network that positions itself as the largest franchise in the segment in Latin America. The new operation is located in the Barreiros neighborhood and will be inaugurated in partnership with his brother, Gabriel Becker, and childhood friend Amilton Puel Jr.
The transition to the business world began before the barbershop. At the end of 2024, Claiton opened a coffee shop and confectionery next to the future VIP unit, an experience that familiarized him with business management. The decision to enter franchising arose naturally, as he had been a client of the brand for over a decade. The starting point was seeing an invitation to become a franchisee while getting a haircut at another store in the network.
The VIP Barbershop business model attracted the investor due to its focus on customer experience. In addition to traditional haircuts and beard trims, the portfolio includes waxing, massages, and podiatry. To encourage customers to stay longer, the units feature pool tables, video games, and a free open bar, elements that seek to increase loyalty.
In the franchise structure, the investor assumes management of the unit, while the central network provides operational support and video training for professionals and managers. This assistance was decisive for Claiton, who was starting his entrepreneurial career after many years in Law. The combination of technology and personalized service is seen as a strong competitive differentiator.
Currently, VIP Barbershop operates with more than 50 units in different Brazilian states and plans to expand its national presence. For those wishing to enter the model, the initial investment starts at R$ 290 thousand. The stores record an average monthly revenue of approximately R$ 100 thousand, with an estimated payback period between 12 and 24 months.
