Tres Arroyos crowns world champion in open final
The Argentine city of Tres Arroyos hosts the grand decision of the 'World Final Challenge', where two barbers compete for the title under the supervision of Uruguayan educator Ema Medina.
Tres Arroyos, in Argentina, became on October 5th the regional hub of barbering and styling. The city hosted the closing ceremony of "El Proceso", an international gathering focused on technical training and professional exchange that brought together specialists from various provinces and countries.
The event took place at the Municipal Sports Center facilities, with support from the local city hall, and marked a unique milestone in the region by consolidating a series of formative activities and practical demonstrations. The organization was handled by local professionals Thomas Pereyra, from Hache Estudio, and Jona Jerez, from John’s, who coordinated three consecutive days of immersion in the craft.
The highlight of the afternoon was the determination of the World Final Challenge, led by renowned Uruguayan educator Ema Medina. On the main stage, finalists Lucho De Souza and Moisit Barber faced off in a contest that required demonstration of technical skill, creativity, speed, and stylistic mastery.
Both competitors had to overcome several evaluative stages to reach the final. During the match, they were closely observed by Medina and a select jury composed of invited figures from the sector, who evaluated the professionals' performance in real time.
A distinctive feature of this contest, compared with traditional competitions, is that the choice of winner did not rest solely with the judges. The audience present at the venue had the responsibility to crown the champion through applause and direct interaction, making the experience more participatory for spectators.
The presence of Ema Medina gave an international dimension to the gathering. With a pedagogical trajectory spanning conferences and clinics in over 15 countries, the educator is known for promoting a holistic approach to the craft, fusing excellence in cutting with aspects of personal growth, work ethics, and professional brand development.
