Hair & Beauty Charity launches Wear Purple Day campaign to raise funds in 2026
The new initiative invites beauty and barbering professionals to wear purple tones during a specific week in the UK. The goal is to support colleagues facing financial or emotional vulnerability.
In the UK, the beauty sector is preparing for a new solidarity action aimed at strengthening the support network among industry professionals. Hair & Beauty Charity, the official organization of the segment, announced the launch of Wear Purple Day, a fundraising event scheduled to take place during the week starting Monday, November 2, 2026. The proposal is direct and accessible: each team chooses the day of the week that best fits their routine to participate.
The campaign's mechanics are based on wearing any shade of purple, whether violet, lavender, or plum. There are no strict rules regarding the intensity of the tone; it only requires the professional to incorporate the color into some visual element. This can range from lipstick, nail polish, or a pair of shoes to a complete hair transformation. The flexibility allows both barbershops and beauty salons to adapt to their operational reality without significant initial costs.
The financial impact of the action is directed straight to the urgent needs of the sector. Funds raised will be used to support hair, barbering, and beauty professionals, as well as their families, during critical times such as serious illnesses, bereavement, or severe financial difficulties. The initiative seeks to ensure that no one is left unsupported during the most difficult personal crises.
Jayne Lewis-Orr, president of the organization, emphasized the simplicity of the process to encourage mass participation. According to her, "you don't need a large team, a budget, or weeks of planning"; you just need to work in the sector and get involved. The leader highlights that the money goes directly to those facing the most challenging moments of their lives, reinforcing that the greater the participation, the more people will be helped.
To participate, teams must follow four simple steps: choose a day between November 2 and 8, decide how to use purple in their look or decor, make a donation through the charity's official website, and share photos on social media. Participants are encouraged to tag @hbcharityuk on Instagram to expand the campaign's reach and engage clients as well, turning service appointments into a collective event of solidarity.
