Cutting Edge Launches Complete Barbershop Line Focused on Curly Hair
Fine line: The brand sold at Walmart features four tools with hypoallergenic blades to reduce irritation and post-shave marks, catering to a historically neglected audience.
Cutting Edge, a men's grooming brand manufactured by Jem Global and distributed through the Walmart network in the United States, revealed its complete tool collection just in time for the holiday season. The launch is particularly relevant for professional barbers, as the company was recently named an emerging leader in personal care in North America by Circana, standing out with the highest percentage increase in sales in the sector.
The main differentiator of the line lies in its focus on men with thick, curly, or coily hair. For these profiles, close shaving can cause ingrown hairs and irritation, leading to dark marks and hyperpigmentation that persist long after the procedure. The brand treats barbershop services as a skincare routine, utilizing hypoallergenic blades coated with ceramic or titanium in all tools to minimize these risks.
The strategy is based on recent scientific evidence. A study published last summer in the International Journal of Dermatology analyzed over 16,000 medical records and found that patients with pseudofolliculitis barbae, known as ingrown hairs, had about twice the risk of developing keloid scars compared to those suffering from seborrheic dermatitis.
The collection includes four main items. The Cordless Hair Clipper, priced at $49.99, features a heat-resistant ceramic blade, an adjustable lever, and six guide combs to control fades and cuts at home. Meanwhile, the Dual-Speed T-Blade Trimmer, for $39.99, is designed for beard contouring, featuring a titanium-coated stainless steel blade and a digital display that indicates remaining battery life.
For the face, the Rechargeable Rotary Shaver, also priced at $49.99, offers five pivoting heads with hypoallergenic titanium blades. It is waterproof and can be used dry or with foam. Finally, the LCD Body Trimmer, for the same price as the shaver, extends care to the body, including built-in lighting for better visibility in sensitive areas.
Jem Global, headquartered in New Jersey, developed the brand to meet the specific needs of hair textures and skin types that were often ignored by traditional tools. The products are available at Walmart and on the brand's official website.
