In the city of León, in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico, professional Yoselin Estrada turned a childhood dream into reality by opening her own barbershop studio. The case is directly relevant to the industry because it illustrates how technical preparation and consistency can break gender barriers in a market traditionally dominated by men.

The decision to start a business came five years ago, encouraged by her husband, who motivated her to seek out an independent activity. Although she had always dreamed of being a stylist, Yoselin studied the trade for a year before realizing that barbering was her true calling. With family support and from mentor Edith, she sought new training to develop her specific skills.

Three years ago, she opened Yossbarberstudio in the Villas de San Juan neighborhood. The biggest initial challenge was convincing clients that a woman could execute the desired cuts. Yoselin recalls that many men preferred to wait for another barber, and there were days when she only handled three appointments, a situation that nearly discouraged her.

Instead of giving up, she chose to refine her techniques and improve customer service to prove her competence. Over time, clients began to trust her work, which became the greatest reward for the effort invested. Currently, the studio offers classic cuts, fades, tapers, and designs known as line-ups.

For the future, Yoselin plans to incorporate exfoliation services and men's skincare, in addition to selling products, clothing, and footwear. Having her own business also allows her to better organize her routine to take care of her children. The story serves as inspiration for other women who wish to start businesses in the sector, showing that it is possible to overcome initial challenges with discipline.
