Bari honors the Manobianco family barbershop for over 60 years of tradition
The city hall of Bari presented a plaque to the Manobianco family, who have kept the same barbershop open since 1964. The recognition highlights their artisanal dedication and history of illustrious clients.
In the city of Bari, Italy, the municipal administration paid tribute to the Manobianco family with the presentation of a commemorative plaque. This distinction celebrates more than six decades of uninterrupted activity by the barbershop founded in 1964 by Giovanni Manobianco. For the professional sector, this case is relevant as it demonstrates the resilience and continuity of the artisanal trade in a competitive market.
The establishment was started when Giovanni was only 25 years old. The business has survived the changes of time through the direct transmission of knowledge between generations. Currently, management is in the hands of his son Sandro Manobianco and his wife Rosa, who keep alive the tradition initiated by the patriarch.
One of the most curious facts about the house's history involves an illustrious client: composer Nino Rota, responsible for the soundtracks of various films, including La dolce vita, directed by Federico Fellini. Rota frequented the barbershop without revealing his profession to the barber. Giovanni only discovered the client's identity after reading an article in a local newspaper.
The official ceremony was attended by city councilor Angela Perna, president of the equal opportunities committee. She highlighted the cultural and economic value of the artisanal tradition preserved by the family. Perna also thanked councilor Vittorio Piancaldini for recommending the barbershop to receive public recognition.
The plaque presented was signed by Mayor Vito Leccese. The official document recognizes the Manobianco family's more than sixty years of passion, dedication, craftsmanship, and human warmth, consolidating the business legacy as part of the city's living history.
